✨?STATE LEVEL BUTTERFLY FESTIVAL & MEET-2016 AMBOLI ?✨

Butterfly evoke a sense of beauty, charm and happiness in all of us. But, ecological importance of butterflies and moths goes well beyond !!

This festival is a novel attempt to bring awareness amongst common masses about the various aspects of butterflies and moths. Various activities are planned to celebrate the massive diversity of these winged creatures and spread knowledge about them. We are delighted to be blessed with presence of Stalwarts in the field of entomology (Insects - Butterflies and moths) for this festival.

The Festival is in it's 2nd year and through this year's theme "AWARENESS & CONSERVATION", we aim to develop sensitive attitude towards Butterflies and promote butterfly conservation & sensitive tourism.

And, there is no better place to host this festival than Amboli, an ultimate haven of micro faunal Biodiversity !! Till date, the HIGHEST NUMBER of butterfly species in the state ( 205 +) have been recorded from Amboli. Amboli landscape hosts diverse food and host plants which are important to support this large butterfly diversity. Every year, new species and range extension records across all the taxa are added to this growing list. This makes Amboli the perfect venue to host this event.

Butterfly Festival and Meet Amboli -2016 is a perfect opportunity for children, students, locals, photographers, amateurs, researchers and all the interested folks to gather on one platform and interact about everything related to BUTTERFLIES !!

ABOUT US

Amboli is a hill station and Biodiversity Hub in south Maharashtra i.e. Konkan, India at an altitude of 690 m it is the last hill station before the coastal highlands of Goa and a relatively unexplored one. Amboli lies in the Sahyadri Hills of Western India, one of the world's "Eco Hot-Spots" and it therefore abounds in a variety of fairly unusual flora and fauna.
